Shooting with Polaroid was my first real experience working in the film industry.
My friend and I met the marketing director of Polaroid in 2013 at Comic-Con at the Javits Center in New York City. He gave us a chance to pitch a series of promotional videos for their new “Action Camera” which was supposed to compete with GoPro. After Polaroid looked through all the pitches, they were impressed with ours the most.
In the Spring of 2014, we flew out to Arizona with a small crew of only four people. Each day we filmed a video for a different “action” sport. That would have been enough of a challenge as is, but a lot of things didn’t go as the producers planned like every shoot. I powered through every single day of challenges, and in the end, Polaroid was quite pleased with the final product.
This was my real first experience shooting video professionally for an important client. If I had a chance to do it all over again, I would make sure everyone on the team is on the same page. All in all, it was a great learning experience. One more thing, Arizona was one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever been to. Apache Lake, Arizona was a secret gem. If you ever have a chance, check it out!
